About Blank-Firing Adapters

A blank-firing adapter is a firearm accessory designed for use with blank ammunition. It restricts escaping gas so that a compatible firearm can cycle during training, ceremonial, reenactment, or simulation activities.

Adapters are firearm- and caliber-specific. Confirm the firearm model, caliber, muzzle configuration, thread pattern, and blank-ammunition type before choosing an adapter.

Compatibility Checklist

  • Match the adapter to the exact firearm platform and caliber.
  • Verify the muzzle thread pattern or attachment method.
  • Confirm that the adapter supports the intended blank ammunition.
  • Inspect surplus components for wear, corrosion, obstruction, or damaged threads.
  • Follow the firearm and adapter manufacturers’ instructions.

Safety

Blank ammunition is not harmless. Hot gases, debris, wadding, and other material can leave the muzzle with enough force to cause serious injury. Never point a firearm at a person, even when blanks are being used.

  • Use only in a controlled environment with appropriate eye and hearing protection.
  • Keep live ammunition entirely separate from blank-ammunition activities.
  • Maintain a safe distance from people, animals, and fragile objects.
  • Have installation and compatibility checked by a qualified gunsmith if uncertain.
  • Stop using the firearm immediately if the adapter loosens, becomes damaged, or the firearm malfunctions.
